HVLA Legacy's ElDorado
We are very pleased to welcome the arrival of HVLA Legacy's ElDorado to Little Circle Farm Alpacas. ElDorado hails from Janus Alpacas & Fiber Company in Marshall, WA, where he has been busy producing some very gorgeous offspring for his owners Bob Shailer and Phil Lasswell and other alpaca breeders in the Washington area. We are honored to become CO-owners of ElDorado with Phil and Bob and we're looking forward to adding ElDorado's wonderful qualities to our herd and to offering his services to other farms in the Rocky Mountain region.
So, if you are looking to add Accoyo 4Peruvian Legacy genetics, AND rich color in one breeding, look no further--HVLA Legacy's ElDorado, a proven sire with twelve crias on the ground, has arrived in Colorado and he's ready to work for you. And by the way, according to Crescent Moon's web page on Legacy, he is no longer available for outside breeding, so here is a chance to add difficult to acquire genetics to your herd. ElDorado, the only grey Legacy son listed on ARI to date, has produced award winning crias in a broad spectrum of color: 3 greys, 2 blacks, 3 browns, and 4 fawns in 2002/2003. Here is the break out of dam and cria color:
Dam Colors: 6 Fawns
Cria colors: 4 fawns, 2 blacks
Dam Colors: 5 browns
Cria colors: 3 browns, 2 greys
Dam Colors: 1 black
Cria colors: 1 grey
ElDorado's fleece is a soft and lovely charcoal grey (DSG) showing brightness, good staple length and character. He is improving offspring over the dam and himself in fiber and passing on his beautiful bold and straight conformation. ElDorado brings good micron genetics from both Legacy (21.8 micron at 9 years) and his MSG dam HVLA Jane Grey (20.0 micron at 5 years). Legacy, ElDorado's sire and one of North America's premier Accoyo studs, has produced many champions and has more than 200 crias on the ground. Jane Grey has also produced award-winning offspring and offers two generations of grey and black genetics from her sire's and dam's lines. All this and more!
ElDorado's Micron Count: At 2 years: 21.4/4.6/21.2/4.3. At 4 years: 24.1/5.2/21.7/9.8
A good disposition is important in our breeding program, and ElDorado has it! He's a wonderfully calm, big, bold macho and very easy to handle. With our four sires and one gelding housed together, we had expected some difficulty in introducing ElDorado, but after the initial challenges were settled, there has actually been less commotion in the sires' pen and pasture. We are very excited to add these qualities to our breeding program; Let us know if you are ready to add them to yours.
